Computer Repairs Tipperary
Computer repair of desktop, laptops and peripherals in the North Tipperary region. I carry out these computer repairs in the client’s house or place of business or in some cases, I will need to take the computer equipment away with me and carry out the computer repairs in my workshop.
Desktop computer repair
Some common desktop computer problems are faulty hard disk drives, DDR Ram issues and faulty motherboards. All these computer problems can be repaired, but in the case of a faulty motherboard, it may not be advisable get it replaced, especially if the computer is over 5 years as motherboards, can be expensive and it is uneconomic to put a lot of money into an old computer. I advise customers about these issues before carrying out computer repairs so there are no shocks, with high computer repair bills.
Laptop computer repair
Laptops have the same common problems as mentioned above for desktop computers and in addition can have problems with faulty LCD screens, power jacks broken and battery recharge issues. I can carry out these laptop computer repairs in my workshop.
Software computer repairs
About 80% of the computers that I deal with have software problems, rather than hardware problems. These software problems are mostly corrupted operating systems, corrupted software programs, computers infected with viruses and computers infected with spyware. I can usually carry out these computer repairs on corrupted operating systems files and clear the computer of viruses and spyware, but in some cases I will need to reload the software to factory settings. This will entail saving the clients files to an external hard drive and then reloading the software before transferring the clients files back to the computer’s hard drive.
To complete these software computer repairs, a set of restoration CDs or a recovery partition on the hard drive may be required. Any application software, such as Microsoft Office which is installed on the faulty computer will need to be reinstalled and will require the installation CDs and the appropriate licences.
Virus removal and spyware removal
There are loads of computer viruses out in the wild at the moment and computers can get infected by just being on websites that have been infected. There are a few things that people can do to prevent virus infection of their computers.
- Installing a good antivirus software: There are commercial and free antivirus software available. I will advise you on which antivirus software to use depending on what you use the Internet for.
- Installing a good anti-spyware software: Again, there are commercial and free software available.
- Making sure that your Windows firewall software is working correctly or installing a third party firewall.
- Setting your Windows updates to update automatically: This will protect your computer against security vulnerabilities that your operating system may have.
Computer repairs on virus or spyware infected computers can in most cases be done at the clients site, but it may be necessary to run very long scans, I tend to do these computer repairs at my workshop.
Beware of spyware infections that hijack your computer and report that your computer has multiple viruses and spyware. This type of spyware infection will attempt to get you to buy fake security software and then your credit card will be compromised.
