Web design with CMS
I have completed web design using hand coded HTML and CSS, but in the past few years I have tended to use Content Management Systems (CMS) software as they are quicker to build and it is quite easy to teach clients how to administer and edit the website.
When it comes to CMS, I mainly use WordPress as the search engines love it, it is easy for the site’s owner to administer and edit it. With WordPress web design, it is also easy to extend the web site’s functionality with plugins which do a wide variety of functions including image galleries, SEO and Social Network integration.
I also use a CMS called Concrete 5 which is also easy to use and administer,is ideal for web design and development, can be extended with free and commercial add-ons and like WordPress is free to use.
Discussing web design with the client
I meet with or communicate via mail with potential clients to discuss all aspects of the web design; size of the site, colour scheme, to use their images or stock images, what they want the website to say and who is the target online audience. This gives me an idea of the expectations of the client and then I can give them an accurate estimate of what it will cost for the website design.
SEO and webdesign
There is some Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) required to ensure that you web site is found and indexed by the major search engines. As part of the webdesign, I will do the on page optimization, which will put the correct Meta tags and description tags on the pages for the keywords and key-phrases that the client wishes to target.
